Free celtic circle embroidered card pattern
By LESLIE A. PANFIL
I am fascinated Celtic design. Whether it is my Scottish blood or my graphic design background, I find the symmetry of Celtic knot work striking. So, I set out to combine Celtic design and embroidery to create this beautiful card. Here is how you can make one too.
Print out pattern.
Fold card stock. A bone file creates a crisp fold it you have one.
Tape the design to the card with painter’s tape. Painter’s tape is less likely to pull up paper with the tape is removed.
Open card and lay flat on a cushioned surface. I use several layers of felt. With a tack or needle poke hole uniformly around design.
Remove pattern from card but keep the pattern for reference. I embroidered this piece with DMC Precious Metal Effects E3821. To start, do not use knots but rather tape ends to card to both start and end.
I’ve taken a cold card stock that I found in the scrapbook craft isle and created a ½” frame. I’ve attached the frame with double-sided tape. I used the same card stock to hide the back side of the embroidery work.
I then added a bow made of a 1/8 inch gold ribbon with a tiny spot of hot glue.
Now all you have to do is find someone special to send it to!
