Turn Your Art Work into Greeting Cards
By LESLIE A. PANFIL
Even in the age of Facebook, everyone needs note cards. A set of blank note cards makes a great gift and cards featuring your art work or the art work of your children, makes a particularly special gift.
What you will need:
Greeting Card Stock
Bristol Board
Exacto Blade
Ruler
Envelopes
Bone Folder
Photo Corners
Watercolor Brush
Water
Cellophane Bags
Ribbon
Photograph your work. I’ve had the best luck photographing my art work in outside in the daylight. Then go to your favorite photo editing program. While I frequently work in Photoshop, I like http://picasa.google.com I use the autofix and crop option. Best of all it’s free.
Once you have your image cropped, print it out on card stock. I purchase bristol board at my local office supply store. Picasa has a print option called wallet size that prints 6 images to a page. I’ve found that size perfect for card making.
Trim you image. I like to use an Exacto blade and a ruler for a nice crisp edge but you can use scissors if you don’t own a craft knife.
The greeting cardstock I purchase comes with matching envelopes and have to be folded. To get a nice sharp fold, use a bone folder.
Attach your photo corners to your image.
The corners I use require a dab of water. Then position your image on the center of the card.
I’ve found that 5 cards make a nice set. You can give a set of the same image or 5 different images. For a really professional look, slip your cards into a cellophane bag and tie with a bow.
