How to make a poinsettia hair accessory
By LESLIE A. PANFIL
This is by far the easiest and inexpensive holiday accessory you will ever make. I purchased the flowers which came 8 to a bunch and the hair bands 4 to a package, both at the dollar store. The grand total in materials for this project is 38 cents!
Here is what you will need:
Silk Poinsettia Flower
Scissors
Hot Glue & Gun
Plastic Hair Band
1” Square of Green Felt (optional)
Remove stem from the flower. Save the leaf.
Hot glue leaf to the flower. Be sure to position the leaves between the petals so they will show.
Measure 2” from the bottom of the hair band. Position the flower at the 2” mark facing forward. This should give you the look of the flower behind your ear. Attach flower with a generous amount of hot glue. Hold in place until hot glue hardens.
That’s it! Not bad for 38 cents! But, if the look of the hot glue bothers you, you can cut a 1” square piece of felt and cover the hot glue. If you choose a color of felt that closely matches your leaves, it will blend in naturally.
Allow the hot glue to dry completely before you try it on. Unless you want it to semi-permanently attach to your head.
